As web designers from time to time we tend to get caught up in the look the colour scheme the font selection and general aesthetic design of our client websites.
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of why we are creating a website in the first place. In the example of a small business – the end product should CONVERT. Our client websites have a job to do and all of that work should end up in a conversion of an otherwise passive visitor.
Your website should enable and encourage visitors to convert into something of value. So here are three questions that each and every page on your website should address.
1) How does this page make me feel?
2) What should I think about this webpage?
3) What should I do on this page?
The more pre-planning you do the easier it should be to answer these three questions. The purpose of each page should be pre-determined and should have a logical next ‘click’ or action.
If you are able to answer these questions your chances of a passive visitor turning into a converted visitor are much higher.
