If you receive an email claiming that your Silver 6 Media email account will be closed or disconnected today, be careful — it’s a phishing scam.
This message may look legitimate at first glance, but there are several red flags that give it away.
* Dear User
* The ‘From’ address was something like..doc88364256serverr@sebange.net
* Personally- I would never only give less than 24 hours as notice of system changes.
Rule of thumb: If an email threatens to shut down your account and asks you to “update” or “verify” it through a link,
don’t click the link.
Go directly to the service’s official website instead. (or in my clients case – contact me directly for advice)
Sometimes clients send me the actual email – to verify its authentic and I’m happy to help (no charge). I would rather be overly cautious than have to clean up the mess from a compromised account.
